These hides are pure aniline leather from hand-select prime European hides, imported from Italy. The hallmark of this leather is its vacuum dried depth and smoothness. Naked leather is leather that has been dyed, with no other finishes applied. The patina that leather acquires with age is only possible when it has not been "plasticized". The aging of this leather will improve its look, feel and desirability. Naked leather is more expensive, because they use a higher grade of leather with few blemishes.
This is the most popular leather used on high end Arts & Crafts Period furnishings.
One hide is large enough to upholster a Morris chair, they range from 50 to 60 square feet in size.
